Bi-Carb Blasting offers an environmentally friendly  and cost effective means to remove paints, grease, grime, moulds, mildew, graffiti and just about anything else off  surfaces such as steel, stainless steel, brass, copper, fibreglass, glass, rubber, concrete, bricks, sandstone and timber with no damage to substrate. (However special care is taken with some timbers and plastics as a slight feathering could be the result.)

This is achieved by delivering sodium bi-carbonate by the means of low air pressure at a high velocity. As the media comes in contact with the surface the bi-carb particles explode causing the surface coatings to be removed.

So why is it that most surfaces are unable to be damaged?

On the Mohs scale of hardness, Soda measures at about 2.3. So anything with a reading higher than that cannot be damaged. This is why we can safely blast over glass, all steels, fibreglass, concrete, rubber and chrome. We can also blast over anodising and galvanising without damaging these coatings. This is a great alternative around hydraulic hoses and fittings.

Soda blasting is very advantageous in the automotive, marine, aviation, industrial and food industries because there are often thin sheet metals and delicate surfaces that we can blast over with no panel warping issues or damage to delicate surfaces. Also clean up is only a matter of blowing out the dust and washing the surface down with water. When painting is required you will need to follow paint manufacturer’s preparation requirements.

Sodium bi-carbonate is food grade, non toxic, non hazardous, non sparking, non flammable, water soluble, biodegradable, odourless, eliminates odours, non irritant to eyes and skin, non corrosive and mould resistant.

We at Bi-Carb Blasting take pride in the work and workmanship carried out by us and we look forward to assisting you in any of your coating removal needs.
